School is around the corner, what supplies do your children really need?
If you don’t school year round, you will probably be in need of some new things for the school year. August is also a good time to stock up on supplies while they are on sale since public school children will be returning to school.
This is a great time to clean out your closets and drawers where you keep all your school supplies and take an inventory of what you have left. You don’t realize how many erasers you have until you group them all together to find that you have 8 of them left from before. This way you’re not overbuying, you can save a bit of money, and you are not cluttering your household.
I find that there are certain things I always like to have on hand such as:
- colored pencil crayons/crayons/markers
- glue stick/white glue
- scotch tape/masking tape
- lined paper
- printer paper
- ink/toner cartridge
- good sharpener
- pencil case for each child – so they don’t fight
Those are my list of necessities that I must have no matter what. If my budget allows, there are some extras that I would like to purchase to be used for arts and crafts and any projects that may come up.
- construction paper
- bingo dabber
- glitter glue/pens
- pom poms
- foam stickers or cut outs
- pipe cleaners
- page protectors
- dry erase markers
- white board
- chalk board
Obviously, it is not necessary to buy all of these things each year, we’re still using the same pair of scissors my son has had since he was five. But some how things always seem to disappear when I need them. You can argue what is a necessity or not but I pretty much have all of these things in the house, just in case someone gets a creative spurt.
I also like to have old clothes or halloween costumes like surgical scrubs or pirate attire, just in case anyone feels like dressing up. It’s a great way to recycle old things.
This is my list of back to school supplies that will keep your homeschool running smoothly.
